More About Attorney Anseman
Born in New Orleans, Norman “Skeet” Anseman feels a close connection with anything NOLA-related. The familiarity he has with the area is only rivaled by his impressive familiarity with complex litigation procedures and applicable laws and legalese.
Skeet has more than 20 years of legal experience under his belt, making him one of the most experienced defense litigation attorneys in Lafayette. He was instrumental in opening the Lafeyette-branch of Perrier & Lacoste in May 2020. He continues to focus his practice on retail and restaurant, maritime, commercial transportation, casualty litigation, and products liability law, all with a focus on defense representation.
Many of the cases he has personally litigated for commercial and pharmaceutical businesses have concluded on the federal level, with many more being handled in state-level courts. He has also represented his clients before the U.S. Department of Labor, Louisiana Board of Pharmacy, and Louisiana Workforce Commission in administrative procedures. Attorney Anseman has authored numerous appellate briefs that were argued before federal and state appellate courts. He even authored a successful certiorari opposition brief taken before the United States Supreme Court.
One of the more complex, newsworthy cases Attorney Anseman has handled involved representing parties after the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill disaster. The legal work he completed for his clients in that case built his reputation, and he continued more work on energy and offshore contract litigation cases. He has become the first choice for representation for local companies and corporations that need specialized contracts with indemnity and insurance protection clauses. The same is true for oil companies that need master service and oil drilling contracts reviewed and revised. On a slightly smaller scale, Skeet routinely helps local businesses negotiate commercial and financial contracts.
Throughout his years of legal experience, Attorney Anseman has been praised and recognized by various legal organizations. He has earned an AV Preeminent® Rating by Martindale-Hubbell®, membership to Louisiana Super Lawyers® for seven years, and the Acadiana Profile Magazine Top Lawyers – Admiralty and Maritime Law title.
When he is not working on a complex case, Attorney Anseman regularly speaks at legal seminars. He teaches Trial Advocacy as an adjunct faculty member at Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
