Jayne Bart-Plange, Partner, Cassiday Schade LLP

  1. If you could give your 25-year-old self a piece of advice, what would it be? Learn to let go.
  2. If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why? The power to create the perfect weather for any scenario. Rainy spring day to stay indoors and read? Done! Sunny with a high of 85 for the beach? Coming right up!
  3. What has been your most notable career accomplishment so far? I created a Diversity and Inclusion Internship Program at my law firm. Our first two interns are about to successfully finish their internship year and both will start as first-year associates with our firm next year!
  4. What is the biggest value you receive from being a member of Themis? I’m consistently encouraged and challenged to build my litigation skills, and I’m reminded why I love the law!
  5. What is your favorite thing to do outside of work? I love to cook.
  6. What made you want to pursue a career in the legal field? I initially wanted to become an immigration attorney. My family and I had a difficult experience immigrating to the United States and I wanted to help others navigate the process.
  7. What piece of advice would you offer young lawyers wanting to advance in their careers? Think about the long game when making career decisions.
  8. What piece of advice would you offer young lawyers wanting to get involved in Themis? This is a great opportunity to listen, hear ‘war stories,’ seek advice and guidance from seasoned attorneys and learn how to be a prepared and zealous advocate for your clients - use it!
  9. When did you get involved with Themis? In 2022, during the mock trial.
  10. Where did you go to college and law school? I attended Loyola University Chicago for undergraduate studies and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law.
  11. Who do you look up to the most and why? My mom. The sharpest wit, sagest advice, deepest laugh, and the most comforting hugs.
